Lansdowne Bhoys 0-2 NY Greek America

Despite having the lions share of the possession Lansdowne failed to put the ball in the net while the Greeks were clinical in the Bhoys final third

The Bhoys edged the opening period but it was the Greeks who took the lead on 12 minutes after a mix up in the Lansdowne defence, the ball was slipped past Bhoys goalie kabo from 6 yard,

Lansdowne had good spells on the ball and shots from holzer and Gurissey just going wide, Oakley had a good chip effort just skip wide and Purcell just missed at the front post from a low cross

Lansdowne dominated the first 25 minutes of the 2nd half but just couldn’t get the equalizing goal. It was Daryl Kavanagh who came off the bench after a spell out injured who came closest after beating his man on the right side of the box his shot just skimmed the top left corner.

Then on 75 minutes the Bhoys lost possession on the halfway and the Greeks countered at pace and after a great save from kabo, Bott was there to hammer home from 8 yards, The Greeks almost made it 3 with another qiick counter but the cross bar saved Lansdowne from a fine header from Bott, it was all Bhoys for the final 10 but the Greek defense remaind solid

Coach Friel was disappointed at his bhoys final third play saying we have to be more clinical in front of nets against quality sides like the Greeks, Friel will hope to welcome bsck Captain Sean kelly and one or two others for Doxas weekend visit to Tibbetts
