Lansdowne Bhoys 6-0 New York Athletic Club


It was a messy first 20 minutes with both teams having trouble settling on the ball, it was a fight for every ball and the tackles were flying in.


It was Nyac who had the first real chance when they won possession 25 yards out and hit a long range shot of the left post, Eventually Lansdowne started to get a grip on the game and after a good 10 minutes of pressure Sean Kelly opened the scoring flicking the ball high into the net from a Zargas corner. The Bhoys kept the pressure on and made it 2-0 just before the half when Mike Holzer headed home a Daryl Kavanagh set piece


The second half was all Bhoys, they played a quick passing game with relentless pressure which Nyac struggled to deal with, on 55 minutes after good ball work by Guirassy , Pat McCann hammered home a shot from the edge of the box into the bottom right corner. Shortly after Andrew Sousa deflected a shot into the roof of the net when Nyac failed to deal with a bounce in the 6 yard box, Guirassy was then felled in the box and Sousa converted from the penalty


Purcell and kelly were solid at the back and Ovan Oakley finished off the scoring on 80 minutes to make it 6-0 with a fine individual run. Coach Friel and the bhoys now look forward to Wednesday nites Lamar hunt cup gave v Brooklyn Italians

In the first game of the day Lansdowne got off to a flyer scoring early through Richi Chamorro, however the Bhoys lost concentration and gave up a soft one shortly after, for the remainder of the half Lansdowne had the better of the possession and made it count going in at the break 3-1 up, yhe 2nd a superb free from jeb


In the 2nd half the Bhoys struggle to establish the same momentum as the first half and let Nyac back into the game, with Nyac scoring two unanswered goals to rescue a point, Coach keeny was disappointed as Lansdowne had chances to win it, the Bhoys remain top of the reserve table

The Metro Bhoys had another superb win, 7 straight in all competitions, they dominated this one from start to finish and man of the match Seamus Mcdaid got a sublime hatrick, Coach O’driscoll and his Bhoys now,look forward to a state cup semi final on tuesday nite.
