THANK YOU WILLIE

Club President William McGrory retires after most successful run in club history. “My oldest is going to high school soon, the younger one is getting older, and it’s time to focus on other projects in my life. We had a lot of great memories to recall, my favorite being lifting our first ever Amateur Cup in 2017. It was something we had set our minds to and we finally did it.”

Lansdowne arguably did everything. After winning their first league title in 2014, they went on to win 4 more in both the CSL and the EPSL, before winning 2 National Amateur and Fricker Cup doubles in 2017 and 2021, and going on a historic 10 trophy winning run between 2020 and 2022, where every trophy in site was won by the club, going 486 days unbeaten in between. McGrory also oversaw the partnership and merger with Yonkers United, transforming Lansdowne Bhoys into Lansdowne Yonkers with a youth system that took the community by storm, and developing thousands of young soccer players, many whom were recruited to colleges for playing the sport.

Let’s also not ignore the countless individuals whose lives he changed through simple phone calls, providing accomodations, work, and a new life in America, creating new career paths for players and coaches alike.

It’s going to be really hard to live up to the hard work Willie has done, but the new president will be announced fairly soon.
