HISTORY OF LANSDOWNE YONKERS FC

“Providing a safe, professional and inclusive organization for players, coaches and families to be part of, and grow with, the Lansdowne family”

Lansdowne Yonkers FC was formed in 1997 as Bronx Bhoys FC and later Lansdowne Bhoys FC with the ambition of furthering the role of soccer in the lives of Irish emigrants living in the Bronx and Yonkers. Born in the Lansdowne Bar on Broadway, Riverdale by a small core of committed activists, today the club boasts two adult teams along with 400+ players and 22 youth teams. The club is home of many backgrounds and ethnicities and has grown within New York soccer to become one of the largest club in the area. The club is recognized as one of the leading amateur clubs in American soccer, beating professional teams in the US Open Cup in 2016, being crowned National Amateur Champion in 2017 & 2021, as well as National Fricker Cup Champions in 2017, 2019, and 2021. We aim to further develop our adult and youth program and give the chance to more players, families and members to partake in our program.

Since 2019, Lansdowne Yonkers FC is an official 501 ( c ) 3 Non For Profit Corporation.

In recent years, Lansdowne Yonkers FC has grown in to a powerhouse in the NY soccer and US soccer scene by taking on and challenging for the National title every year. In 2017, the dream became reality when Lansdowne Yonkers FC became National champions. Four years later, in 2021, it was time again. Since winning its two National Doubles and competing in the 3rd round of the US Open Cup (most respected tournament in the US), facing against USL and MLS teams, Lansdowne are now on their way to defend their national titles and bring more success home to Yonkers in 2022.

The success of Lansdowne’s First Team has not gone unnoticed in the US or overseas. A growing youth program of 400+ players has seen a tremendous development in line with its First Team’s success. Overseas trips to Ireland and Foyle Cup has also put Lansdowne on the map across the pond.

LANSDOWNE YONKERS YOUTH MISSION STATEMENT

Lansdowne’s Youth system was founded 2018 when Lansdowne Bhoys merged with Yonkers United Soccer Club. Since then we have grown to a program of 400+ players that hosts 20+ travel teams playing in the WYSL, EDP, NY League Cup & NY State Cup. Our aim is to create a fun and safe environment that focuses on the development of players. We’ll do this by providing top tier coaches that will focus on the mastery of all skills involved in the sport of soccer and encourage individual creativity in the learning process. Lansdowne Yonkers FC gives the opportunity to all players that wish to participate.

FUNDRAISING
