YONKERS, NY – Lansdowne Yonkers Football Club are excited to announce the appointment of Matthew “Matt” Kane as the new head coach of the Lansdowne Yonkers First Team. Kane brings plenty of experience in the soccer world, with both a USSF & UEFA A Coaching License. A native of Belfast, Ireland, Mr. Kane is a former professional athlete himself, having been a footballer in the NIFL back at home. In the United States, he has experience coaching with the New York Red Bulls, and Met Oval. He served as the Head of Performance Analysis at Ocean City Noreasters in USL League Two. He is the Director of Coaching at Soccer Stars United, and most recently was the Head Coach of Manhattan Celtic. At Celtic, he led them to promotion from the Cosmopolitan Soccer League (CSL) into the Eastern Premier Soccer League (EPSL), improving their record every season, finishing a win away from the Metropolitan Conference playoffs in 2022-23.
The LYFC board have spoken to Matt over the past few weeks, and feel he is the perfect candidate to bring the club back to the top, expecting exciting times ahead.
Players are told to expect an early pre-season call. There is a chance of a pre-season press conference for all interested media outlets.
